How to measure

    Grab a soft tape measure.
    No tape? Use a strip of paper or a piece of string, mark where it meets, then measure it flat against a ruler.

    Measure girth when fully erect.
    Wrap the tape once around the thickest part of the shaft. Snug, not tight.
  3. 3
    Optional: measure length
    Along the top, from the base to the tip. Almost every condom is long enough for almost everyone, so use length only as a tie breaker.

    Match your girth to the chart below.
    If you are between sizes, go with how condoms have felt before: if they tend to slip, size down. If they leave a ring or feel tight, size up.

Condom sizes are given as "nominal width", the width of the condom laid flat. It is roughly half of the girth it is designed to fit, with some stretch.

Fit questions, answered

How do I know if my condom is too big?

It slips during sex, bunches up at the base, or feels loose enough that you keep checking it. A condom that slips can come off, so size down to a snug fit.

How do I know if my condom is too small?

It is hard to roll on, feels like it is squeezing, leaves a red ring at the base, or dulls sensation. A condom stretched too tight is also more likely to break. Size up.

Does condom length matter?

Much less than width. Most condoms are longer than most people need, and any extra simply stays rolled at the base. Pick your size by girth first.

Are snug fit condoms the same as small condoms?

Yes. Snug fit, slim fit, close fit and small all describe a condom with a narrower width, usually around 49 mm. It says nothing about length or about you. It is simply the fit that stays put.
